Appalachian Project 2007

RASCAL performs 240 cat surgeries in 4 days in Appalachian Counties of Ohio

What better way to start off the spring kitten season then by spaying 240 cats in 4 days? Adams, Jackson, Pike, and Vinton counties were each given a day to offer free cat surgeries to those in need. Cat Welfare Association funded the project, and RASCAL staff spent a day in each area sterilizing 40 females and 20 males. Other central Ohio shelters, including the Capital Area Humane Society, stepped up to help the Appalachia rescue groups with donations of carriers and other supplies. Our coordinators in these southern Ohio counties are truly working hard every day to make progressive changes in their animal control protocol. In addition to the free surgeries they organized for this project, these groups also bring us into the area every month to provide low cost services for the public. In response to the huge local support we got for this effort from Central Ohio, we are inviting shelters and individuals to drop off excess supplies and donations to our office for transport to the area.

These donations might include:
Dog or Cat Food
Cat Carriers
Towels or blankets
Treats
Bottled Water (for the shelter workers)
Leashes
Bowls
Collars
Elevated dog beds
Cat litter
Buckets, brushes, other cleaning materials

Please call before coming to our office, as we often travel. Your best bet to catch us is on a Monday or Tuesday when we are running clinics here in town.
